Overview
Resolute Networks. is a leading provider of standards-compliant core technology and sub-system solutions for Circuit Emulation Services (CES) and Synchronization over Packet applications. The company’s solutions are designed to support high performance converged voice and data telecommunication services over Ethernet, IP or MPLS infrastructure. Resolute’s CES sub-systems have been selected by leading network equipment manufacturers worldwide.

Resolute Networks was established as a merger of Redux Communications (founded in 1999) and Lycium Networks (founded in 2001).

Resolute Networks is a wholly owned subsidiary of BATM Advanced Communications (London stock exchange ticker symbol: BVC)

MARKET TRENDS AND DRIVERS
The rapid transition of large parts of telecommunications infrastructure to Ethernet, IP and MPLS is creating a rapid increase in demand for CES and Synchronization over Packet. Large numbers of applications require delivery of synchronous services such as E1/T1 over asynchronous packet transports including: Carrier Ethernet; PON; DOCSIS, WiMAX and Cellular Backhaul.

Business users already using TDM seek to protect their investments in robust, fully-featured TDM equipment, including PBXs, IADs and routers, thereby avoiding expensive forklift equipment upgrades. For those businesses planning expansion of their telephony needs, TDM services continue to offer high value, and high quality means for voice transport. Using standard TDM interfaces side by side with high capacity Carrier Ethernet services from a single operator increases enterprise cost-efficiency and productivity. Incumbent operators have a strong interest in preserving their lucrative E/T1 services over the reliable TDM infrastructure which are worth tens of billions of dollars in annual revenue, while converging their underlying transport infrastructure on new, high performance, cost-effective Ethernet, IP and MPLS technologies. Alternative operators, including Multi-Service Operators (MSOs), which primarily use packet switched infrastructure, are interested in broadening their service portfolio to target the commercial and business markets. For this purpose they have to include high value TDM services, while leveraging to the maximum their new high performance packet-based networks. These operators also want to offer their customers service packages based on one cost-effective access link with simplified billing.

Beyond these drivers, it is clear that TDM services based on CES have advantages also for the cellular backhaul market and new business users, allowing them to achieve toll quality voice connectivity with all the functionality developed around E1/T1 over the last several decades.

VALUE Proposition FOR OEMs
Resolute’s ultra-compact OEM CES gateway sub-systems enable network equipment providers to rapidly integrate a standards-compliant, field proven, pseudowire CES functionality into their products in the form of highly integrated, cost-efficient CES gateway modules. Resolute products guarantee minimal investment in R&D resources, little development risk and fast time to market for fully featured, carrier-grade TDM services applicable in any packet-based network equipment. The company’s CES solutions support nxT1/E1, nxT3/E3 and OC-3/STM-1 interfaces for both customer premise equipment and aggregation central office devices, flexible clocking strategies and carrier-grade synchronization support while maintaining service resilience in a wide variety of real-world network environments.

Resolute’s customers benefit from the company’s continued focus on developing leading circuit emulation and synchronization over packet technologies and solutions, and the company's deep commitment and investment in all the relevant standards bodies including IETF, ITU, IEEE, MEF and CableLabs.

VISION OF THE FUTURE
Using its technological capabilities and know-how, Resolute is committed to the mission of enabling packet/circuit network convergence. The company believes that the communications industry will always need to deliver high performance, mission critical synchronous services over the new Ethernet, IP and MPLS infrastructure being rolled out across the globe. Resolute Networks will continue to share its vast knowledge in the convergence of circuits, packet and timing for the benefit of the whole of the telecommunications community.
